The Postgraduate Unit (PGU) acts as a vital link between the Boards of Study and postgraduate students, facilitating the pursuit of postgraduate degrees at or above SLQF Level 7, such as research-based degrees such as Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) and taught courses such as Master’s degrees and Postgraduate Diplomas
PhD
Ph.D. or Doctor of Philosophy degree is the highest academic degree awarded in a given field of study. It is a research-focused degree that demonstrates the highest level of expertise and scholarly achievement in a particular subject area. PhD degree is a UGC recognized SLQF Level 12 postgraduate degree.
MPhil
MPhil or Master of Philosophy is a postgraduate research degree that focuses on developing research skills and expertise in a specific field of study. MPhil degree is a UGC recognized SLQF Level 11 postgraduate degree. Minimum duration of the degree is two years for Full-time registrants.
MBA
Master of Business Administration (MBA) offered by the Postgraduate Unit of Uva Wellassa University is UGC recognized SLQF Level 10 postgraduate degree. The duration is two (02) years, consisting of 46 credits of coursework and 15 credits of research work.
MIT
The Master of Information Technology (MIT) offered by the Postgraduate Unit of Uva Wellassa University is UGC recognized SLQF Level 9 postgraduate degree. The duration is one (01) year, mostly a coursework-based (33 Credits) programme, consists of a Capstone Project of 5 credits.
